Three Point Consulting is a leading transit payment industry consultancy serving the niche forming at the junction of fare collection, and open (account-based / bank card / mobile) payment systems. This new convergence, facilitated by advances in smart fare media, mobile networks and server-based system technologies, promises to transform the way fares are paid, collected and processed. Since its inception in 2002, THREE POINT has been an advocate of the transit agency. As regional smart card program consultant to New York and New Jersey transit agencies, Three Point developed the Regional Interoperability Standard for Electronic Transit Fare Payments (RIS) and then, building on this work, played a key role in the development of the Contactless Fare Media System Standard (CMFS) at the core of the Universal Transit Farecard Standard (UTFS) of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). Three Point has served the largest transit agencies in North America, in transit centers such as New York (PANYNJ), Washington, D.C. (WMATA), the San Francisco Bay Area (BART), and Toronto (TTC), as well as private companies such as Chase, Sprint, and CISCO. Most recently, Three Point leveraged its knowledge of bankcard and account-based systems as technical consultant to the Chicago Transit Authority for their Open Standards Fare System (OSFS) procurement and implementation.
