The mission of TimeBanks.Org is to promote equality and build caring community economies through inclusive exchanges of time and talents. TimeBanks.Org (formerly TimeBanks USA) was founded in 1995 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization office is located in Washington D.C. What is Timebanking? Timebanking is a way of giving and receiving to build supportive networks and strong communities. One hour helping another earns one Timebank Hour (also called time credits, service credits or time dollars.) Timebanking builds on the magic of “pay it forward,” one good turn leading to another and another. We are working with timebank leaders across the US and internationally to strengthen and rebuild community, and use timebanks to achieve wide-ranging goals such as social justice, bridges between diverse communities, and local ecological sustainability.
