The Town of East Fremantle is a local government authority in Western Australia, formed in 1897 after separating from the Town of Fremantle. It covers 3.2 square kilometres and serves a resident population of about 8,000. The municipality borders the Swan River to the north and west, with the City of Melville to the east and the City of Fremantle to the south and west. It acknowledges the traditional owners of the lands and pays respect to Elders past, present and emerging. In 2026, East Fremantle partnered with the City of Fremantle to launch Everyday Zero, an interactive waste-education initiative designed to reduce landfill contamination. In 2025 it released the George Street Place Plan Vision and Community Action Plan and sought community involvement to implement it; the town also earned a Waste Avoidance Award in 2022 for its 2021 George Street Festival.
