Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District (TBAISD) operates within the education administration sector, focusing on managing educational programs and services for school districts in northern Michigan. Its work centers on supporting local districts through regionally coordinated programs, professional development, and collaborations designed to enhance staff effectiveness and student outcomes. The organization serves school districts across counties including Grand Traverse, Benzie, and Leelanau, positioning itself as a regional educational service provider rather than a classroom operator. Based in Traverse City, Michigan, TBAISD is part of the broader network of state and regional education management entities that facilitate shared services and program delivery for multiple districts. Recent activities illustrate its emphasis on partnership and program development, such as collaborating with the Justice Leaders Collaborative to offer diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice training for staff, and launching a voluntary social justice training program for educators. The organization has also engaged in initiatives related to early childhood readiness and higher education pathways for students, including partnerships with local colleges and community groups to support college and military options and early learning readiness.
