Total Terminal International Algeciras S.A. (TTI Algeciras) is one of the two container terminals operating within the Port of Algeciras Bay and holds the status of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO). Its concession, awarded in July 2008, is located in Phase A of the Isla Verde Exterior expansion area — a strategic enclave at the very gateway between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, in the Strait of Gibraltar. Covering a concession area of 300,119 m², complemented by a public manoeuvring zone of 57,621 m², the terminal features two quay lines: 850 metres (East) and 550 metres (North), with draughts of 18.5 m and 17.5 m, respectively. Since beginning operations in May 2010, TTI Algeciras has stood out as Southern Europe’s and the Mediterranean’s first semi-automated terminal, designed to handle up to 1.6 million TEUs annually. Its advanced technology and automation systems ensure high productivity, reliability, and safety in every move. Fully equipped to serve the latest generations of Ultra Large Container Vessels (ULCVs), the terminal operates with 5 Malaccamax and 3 Super Post-Panamax ship-to-shore cranes, 32 automatic stacking cranes (ASCs), and 23 shuttle carriers (SHCs) — combining innovation and efficiency in one of the most strategic maritime crossroads in the world. Since 2021, TTI Algeciras has been jointly owned by HT Algeciras Co. Ltd. (HMM, holding 50% +1 share) and Isla Verde Algeciras Terminal Holding, S.L. (50% –1 share), the latter being 100% owned by CMA Terminals Espagne (CMA CGM Group). This partnership between two global shipping leaders strengthens the terminal’s international connectivity and long-term vision for sustainable growth.
