Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Tubman is a mid-sized nonprofit with more than four decades of experience in family crisis and support services. It was formed through the merger of four organizations—Chrysalis, A Center for Women; Harriet Tubman Center; Family Violence Network; and ElderCare Rights Alliance—unifying a shared mission inspired by Harriet Tubman. The organization operates a multi-service model to address safety, stability, and well-being for people facing violence, homelessness, and related traumas. Each year, Tubman serves about 17,000 individuals of diverse ages, genders, and cultural backgrounds who have experienced relationship violence, trafficking, homelessness, mental and chemical health challenges, or other trauma. Its offerings include safe shelter and housing, legal services, mental and chemical health counseling, youth programs, violence prevention, wrap-around supports, and community education. In 2023, Tubman began a partnership with the Crystal Police Department to extend its services in the region.
