Originally my career path was in the sciences. I majored in entomology at Oregon State University and went on to apply that knowledge working in agriculture. Both my education and my work in entomology helped me hone skills in analysis and problem solving, skills which have been vital to the success of my endeavors ever since.

When I started an independent investment business over twelve years ago, two things were obvious: first, that I could only succeed against my much larger corporate competitors by maintaining an unconditional, unwavering loyalty to customers; second, that this loyalty would need to be secured by strong aligned interests and an innovative, independent approach to doing business.

Loyalty, aligned interests, and innovative independence — these are at the center of my fee-based business model. Here at Turman Financial, we build strategies around clients’ needs, not around products. What goes into a portfolio has nothing to do with commissions: in a fee-based business, there are none. We build investment strategies which utilize the full range of choices available — not a limited list approved by a corporate office, and not influenced by the potential commission payouts to the broker.

As a result, our success is tied to yours. If customers don’t grow and prosper, we don’t either, and that’s the way we think it should be.
