UiT The Arctic University of Norway is a research-focused institution located in Tromsø, northern Norway, and is the northernmost university in the world. It comprises six faculties: Faculty of Science and Technology; Faculty of Law; Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education; Faculty of Health Sciences; Faculty of Biosciences, Fisheries and Economics; and Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology. The university operates across ten campuses across northern Norway, including Tromsø, Alta, Hammerfest, Kirkenes, Bardufoss, Harstad, Narvik, Bodø, Mo i Rana, and Svalbard. Its work centers on Arctic issues—climate change, Arctic resources, and environmental threats—and it seeks to study and address these topics from a close-up perspective. UiT serves students, researchers, and regional and international partners seeking education and research on Arctic challenges. In 2026 UiT launched the Northern Homes project, integrating solar technologies into refurbishing postwar houses across Northern Norway.
