UMass Memorial Medical Center is a hospital and academic medical center located at 55 Lake Avenue North in Worcester, Massachusetts. It serves as the flagship member of the UMass Memorial Health system and functions as the academic medical center for central Massachusetts, with a clinical partnership to UMass Chen Medical School. The center operates more than 800 beds and employs about 7,500 caregivers across its campuses: Hahnemann Campus, Marlborough Campus, Memorial Campus, and University Campus. It is a tertiary care referral center for central and western Massachusetts, with clinical strengths in cardiovascular care, neuroscience (including the region’s only Joint Commission-accredited comprehensive stroke center), orthopedics, hematology/oncology, liver and kidney transplantation, and a full spectrum of children’s and women’s services. It includes the region’s only Children’s Medical Center, the region’s only level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the region’s only designated level I trauma center, and operates Life Flight, New England’s first hospital-based air ambulance service.
