Join a Tradition of Excellence - The University of New England (UNE) is an independent, coeducational university with two distinctive campuses on the coast of southern Maine, University Campus in Biddeford and Portland Campus in suburban Portland. UNE offers more than 40 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the health sciences, natural sciences, osteopathic medicine, human services, liberal arts, education, and business. Rankings and Accreditations * The School of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE*). The CSWE is responsible for developing accreditation standards that define competent preparation and ensuring that social work programs meet them. * The University of New England is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, (NEASC*), which accredits schools and colleges in the six New England states. * The University of New England is ranked as one of the Best Universities in the North by U.S. News & World Report in the 2010 edition of "America's Best Colleges." * UNE was ranked 81st in the top tier of this category and no other college or university in Maine was ranked higher. This is the eighth year that U.S. News has ranked UNE a top regional university.
