UNITE HERE is a United States–based labor and civic organization representing more than 250,000 workers across the hospitality, gaming, food service, manufacturing, textile, laundry, and airport industries in the United States and Canada. Its membership is diverse, drawing workers from many immigrant communities and including sizable shares of African-American, Latino, and Asian-American workers, with women making up the majority. Through organizing, members have transformed traditional low-wage roles—such as apparel work in the South and hotel housekeeping in cities across North America—into positions with stronger ties to family-sustaining, middle-class livelihoods. Based in the United States, UNITE HERE operates within the civic and social sectors as a labor organization focused on worker organizing and advocacy in service-oriented industries. A recent development, in December 2024, was the launch of an online guide to help hotel guests request refunds for resort fees, illustrating a concrete approach to consumer-focused labor campaigns.
