The United Federation of Teachers is a labor union serving the primary and secondary education sector in New York City. It represents about 110,000 public school teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school staff, as well as private sector nurses, administrative law judges, and family childcare providers. With nearly 200,000 members in total, the federation acts as an advocate for public education and working families in New York City. The organization is headquartered in Manhattan at 52 Broadway, and its activities include participation in education-focused events and initiatives. Recent activity includes attendance at the 2026 Career and Technical Education Awards and participation in the 2025 AFT TEACH conference.
