United Planning Organization (UPO) is a nonprofit human services organization whose mission is to Unite People with Opportunities so they can lift themselves into economic security.

Since 1964, UPO has served as the only Community Action Agency for residents of Washington, DC, which means that we help people become the change agents of their lives and reach their full potential.

UPO offers 30+ programs and human services to people with low incomes. 
•	We teach DC residents the skills for high-demand careers and then we place them in jobs
•	We partner with developers to create new affordable housing and help people emerging from homelessness thrive in their new homes
•	We operate DC’s Financial Empowerment Center
•	We are DC's largest Early Head Start provider
•	We keep seniors physically and mentally active — they become volunteer mentors for children
•	We make college dreams come true via scholarships for outstanding, ambitious DC high school students from families with difficult financial challenges
