University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) is a leading teaching and research hospital equipped with advanced medical technology and expert care. UMC is the only hospital in El Paso to be named one of America’s Top 100 Hospitals twice. UMC is the only Level I trauma center within a 270-mile radius and is the designated facility to receive the president of the United States if medical care is required while visiting the area. UMC is the first teaching hospital in Texas to fully upgrade its robotic surgery program to the state-of-the-art da Vinci 5 platform. It is home to the region’s only Level I stroke center and Joint Commission-certified comprehensive stroke center and is accredited as a chest pain center by ACC Accreditation Services. UMC is also the first hospital in El Paso to earn Level III epilepsy center accreditation from the National Association of Epilepsy Centers and the first hospital in the region to offer extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
