The University of Gdansk is a higher education institution founded in 1970 through the merger of the Higher School of Economics in Sopot and the Higher Pedagogical School in Gdańsk, with earlier roots dating to 1945. It is the largest higher education establishment in the Pomeranian region, located in Gdańsk, and serves roughly thirty-three thousand students across nine faculties and the Foreign Language Teacher Training College. The university offers studies in nearly thirty fields with more than a hundred specialisations and participates in European programs that support study abroad and international experience, including the Erasmus framework and the MOST programme. It maintains a Careers Office that assists graduates with employment decisions and vocational development, reflecting a focus on post-graduation outcomes. In March 2025, specifically March 12–13, the university participated in UG Open Days, sharing mock exams, lectures, and faculty presentations to prospective students.
