The University of Maryland School of Nursing, founded in 1889, is one of the oldest and largest nursing schools, and is ranked 11th nationally. Enrolling more than 1,700 students in its baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral programs, the School develops leaders who shape the profession of nursing and impact the health care environment. The School of Nursing shares a 61-acre campus in downtown Baltimore with the University of Maryland (UM) six other professional schools—Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Pharmacy, Social Work, and the Graduate School—and is in close proximity to the University of Maryland Medical Center, University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute, University of Maryland BioPark, and the Baltimore VA Medical Center.
