Urban Adamah is an educational farm and community center in Berkeley, California that integrates the practices of Jewish tradition, mindfulness, sustainable agriculture, and social action to build loving, just, and sustainable communities. We provide training programs, educational workshops, and community celebrations for more than 15,000 visitors annually. In 2011, we sprouted the dream of a sustainable Jewish urban farm—a space for gathering, exploring, learning, and celebrating. In 2016, we transplanted our work to Sixth Street, a new and permanent home in which to create deeply rooted community. In 2020, we sowed hope and optimism amidst insecurity and upheaval, gathering in community virtually during the pandemic. In 2024 we marked our Urban Adamitzvah, celebrating 13 years of of planting, cultivating and harvesting crops and community. And in 2025 we're developing a new strategic plan to deepen our impact and help community ground, grow, and connect in meaningful and celebratory ways.
