Urban Harvest is a Houston-based nonprofit focused on strengthening food security and community resilience through local food access initiatives. The organization runs weekly farmers markets, a mobile market program, and a broad network of community gardens—more than 168 in the Houston area within a 200-mile radius—along with education programs for adults and youth. Guided by an all-volunteer board, Urban Harvest has grown to include a full-time staff and thousands of volunteers, connecting residents with nearby farmers and growers. The group was founded in 1994. In August 2025, Urban Harvest launched its Mobile Market, expanding access to affordable, fresh produce directly to Houston neighborhoods in need, a development tied to Urban Harvest's ongoing efforts to increase local food availability.
