Sea Cadets provides young Americans with skills, knowledge, and confidence to become productive and responsible citizens while instilling in them an appreciation for our sea services. We are a youth leadership development program that gives young men and women ages 10 through the end of high school a head start on life. Our cadets learn the feeling of success and well-earned achievement by stepping outside of their comfort zones. We strive to help every cadet reach his or her fullest potential. Sea Cadets gain unique and valuable experiences that incorporate hands on learning and teamwork. Our diverse program includes seamanship, sailing, aviation, security, building robots, medical, STEM, SCUBA, submarines, photography, culinary, special forces training, and an International Exchange Program. Sea Cadets grow in confidence as they train in a highly structured and disciplined environment that stresses both personal accountability and teamwork. Our cadets wear uniforms, adhere to fitness and grooming standards, and are held to the highest standards of behavior. Our military culture stresses concepts of duty, service and self-sacrifice which are the foundation of good leadership. At young ages, our cadets are given leadership opportunities by staffing summer training events, planning unit drill sessions, and teaching others. While our cadets gain an appreciation for the sea services and military life, there is no requirement to join the military. Many former cadets enlist, and dozens attend service academies or ROTC. Cadets who complete our “recruit training” are well prepared for the rigors of boot camp or officer indoctrination. Sea Cadets learn our core values: honor, respect, commitment, and service.
