Facilities Management Services (FMS) supports the University of Southern California’s wide range of leading-edge research, academic and patient care programs. FMS is responsible for the day to day operation, repair and maintenance of USC’s buildings, infrastructure, and grounds on the University Park Campus, Health Sciences Campus, the Wrigley Institute on Catalina Island, and various leased spaces.

Our vision is to become the benchmark for the facilities management profession. Our mission is to enhance the environment that shapes the Trojan experience and allows USC to thrive for generations to come.

At FMS, we maintain over $7.5 billion of USC’s physical assets with unyielding dedication to quality service, sustainability, and cost-efficiency. Our strategic approach to continuous improvement is calibrated against the Malcolm Baldridge Criteria for Performance Excellence: leadership development, strategic planning, stakeholder and market focus, workforce focus, measurement and analysis, process management and result-orientation. Preserving the university’s assets and providing Quality Customer Service are our top two strategic goals.

FMS has been consistently rated by our customers for the professionalism, courteousness and technical competency of our technicians and Event Planning team. Our Customer Resource Center also receives high ratings for promptness in answering calls. In addition, FMS has been recognized by APPA, our industry trade organization, for Innovative Practices and Excellence.

Facilities Management Services is divided into six units whose directors all report to the Associate Vice President, John Welsh.

Additionally, the Manager of CAD Services, and the Manager of Network Services report to Mr. Welsh.

Along with our sister organization, Capital Construction Development (CCD), FMS reports up to Lloyd Silberstein, Vice-President and Executive Director of Capital Construction and Facilities Management Services.

Although we have multiple campuses to serve, we function as one unified organization where our leaders are responsible for their respective department across all locations. Our services are coordinated through our friendly and dedicated Customer Resource Center team.

Facilities Management Services typically has an average of 375 employees who represent a broad range of professional expertise and are known for their dedication to the work that they do. Mindful that inspired stewardship comes from inspired staff, FMS is committed to providing the workplace climate necessary to support the professional excellence and well-being of every member of the FMS team, making FMS “No Better Place” to work.

YOUR Facilities Management Services team is confident in our capacity to meet the projected and unpredictable challenges along our great journey to support USC’s audacious mission.
