USO Wisconsin, Inc. is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of the US Armed Forces personnel and their families who reside or transit the State of Wisconsin. HIGHLIGHTS • Support all five branches of service, Reservists, National Guard, Wounded, and Families of the Fallen • 56,000 program participants in 2015 • 501(c)(3) nonprofit • NOT funded by military or government, we depend on YOUR support • More than 100 volunteers and 3 staff members PROGRAM CENTERS Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS): In 2015, supported more than 11,000 new recruits and their families who are dealing with the process of joining the military. Milwaukee Airport: We supported almost 8,000 service members and their families in transit, deployments, welcome homes, and dignified transfers. La Crosse Airport: Opened in 2016 to support around 100,000 service members who arrive to go to Fort McCoy or other military installations. Fort McCoy, WI: Opened two centers in 2015 on the training grounds to offer Wi-Fi, phones for calling home, stress relieving activities and comfort foods. We had more than 14,000 program participants in first year. Mobile Unit Truck: Allows us to bring Wi-Fi, snacks and games to military in more remote areas of the state, at the La Crosse Airport and on base at Fort McCoy. PROGRAM EVENTS Operation Christmas: 250 attendees in 2015. Military families in need can pick out presents, children make stockings, and visits with Santa. United Through Reading: USO gives book and video of deployed parent reading it to their children. Father/Daughter Dance: Fathers reconnecting with daughters and making cherished memories. Comfort Crews (Kits): Helping children cope with a family member’s visible and invisible injuries, as well as, the challenges of reintegration. Operation Baby Shower: Lunch, gift bags and expert advice for military moms who don’t have extended family nearby to host baby shower.
