Vactor Manufacturing is a mid-sized machinery maker based in Streator, Illinois, focusing on sewer-cleaning equipment. The company traces its origins to 1911, initially producing pneumatic agricultural machinery before pivoting to municipal sewer and catch-basin cleaning in the 1960s. It has sold nearly ten thousand units worldwide and operates as a subsidiary of Federal Signal Corporation. Its customers include municipal public works departments and utilities that need to clear obstructions from sewer lines, culverts, and catch basins. A key capability is ModulFlex design, which allows customers to tailor a machine to their chassis, and the firm highlights hydro-excavation as a safer, nondestructive method for locating underground utilities, with the IMPACT combination sewer cleaner launched in 2020.
