Velocys is an international sustainable fuels technology company. Velocys designed, developed and now licenses proprietary Fischer-Tropsch technology to enable the production of clean, low carbon, synthetic drop-in aviation and road transport fuel from a wide variety of carbon sources including residual woody biomass, municipal solid waste and CO2 (e-fuels). Velocys is developing two reference projects: one in Natchez, Mississippi, USA and one in Immingham, UK, to produce fuels with net negative carbon emissions, thanks to integration with carbon sequestration. Velocys as it is today arose from two complementary innovations. One was in catalysis, a spin-out from Oxford University (originally called Oxford Catalysts), which in 2008 acquired a US company based on complementary reactor technology developed at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Velocys is headquartered in Oxford in the United Kingdom. Velocys is owned by a consortium of impact investors with a focus on climate change. Members include Carbon Direct Capital, Lightrock, GenZero and Kibo Investments. www.velocys.com
