The Vermont Jazz Center is a non-profit jazz educational and performance center hosting concerts of world-class artists each month, and providing educational services such as ensembles, private lessons, jam sessions and a renowned summer jazz workshop. The VJC also provides community outreach programs, integrating with area schools, assisted living spaces, and contributing to the region's creative economy. Cornerstones of the VJC include two annual festivals: Emerging Artist Festival (November) and Solo Jazz Piano Festival (April). The VJC has been recognized twice by the state of Vermont for its contribution to the arts through proclamations read at the State House. In 2022, VJC director was lauded by the Vermont Arts Council with its Ellen McCulloch Lovell Award in Arts Education. Artists who have performed and taught at the VJC include Grammy-award winners, NEA Jazz Masters including Kenny Barron, Sheila Jordan, Terri Lyne Carrington, Lakecia Benjamin, Roy Haynes, Louis Hayes and many others.
