Gilberts is a combination of history and modern convenience - city and countryside. Founded in 1890, Gilberts has humble beginnings but has continued to grow at a breakneck pace going from a population of less than 2,000 people in the early 2000s to over 8,000 people as of the 2020 Census. As more development and growth occurs, Gilberts and its professional staff are tasked with planning for the future of our community while maintaining the excellent service delivery our residents have come to know and love. 

The Village has also been rated one of the Safest Cities in Illinois and one of the Best Places to Raise a Family in Kane County. Furthermore, Gilberts is host to several events year-round such as a fall bonfire, fishing derby, and Gilberts Community Days summer festival. All of which demonstrates the superb family-oriented character of the community.
