It has a long football history with a national cup title in 2012/13, a Super Cup in 1987/88, and multiple appearances in national cup finals as well as European competitions. The team plays its home matches at the D. Afonso Henriques Stadium in Guimarães, a venue built in 1965 as Guimarães Municipal Stadium and later renamed; it underwent extensive refurbishment to host EURO 2004 and now seats about 30,000 spectators. Vitória SC is described as one of the largest sports institutions in Portugal, noted for its passionate fan base and broad athletic footprint beyond football. It supports activities across several sports, including kickboxing, volleyball, basketball, swimming and beach football, alongside football, reflecting a multi-sport club structure.
