The mission of Vita-Living, Inc. is to provide lifelong services and supports for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to promote personal growth toward a safe, satisfying, and meaningful life in their community. A Houston-based nonprofit since 1982, Vita Living offers three vital core programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD): group residences in Houston-area neighborhoods, a centrally located day center, and case management in seven counties. Across Texas, an estimated 75,000 individuals with IDD wait up to 14 years for a residential slot. Vita Living’s experienced and caring staff save lives and renew hope on a daily basis for this greatly underserved and vulnerable population. The average age of our residential clients is 50. Even as their medical needs increase, we remain devoted to caring for them in the community as they age in place with dignity. Our vision is to work in partnership, with the Houston community at large, to continually improve the status and quality of life for people with developmental disabilities.
