The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) is a private nonprofit organization that serves as the rule-making body and service organization for interscholastic activities in Washington state. Founded in 1905 and based in Renton, it aims to create equitable playing conditions among high school teams while helping member schools operate student programs that foster achievement, respect, equity, enthusiasm and excellence in a safe and organized environment. The WIAA counts more than 400 member high schools and more than 400 middle or junior high schools, spanning public and private institutions. It plans, supervises and administers 120 state championships across 19 interscholastic sports and activities, with events held at various locations throughout Washington. In 2024, the organization and the Washington Officials Association launched a pilot program using body cameras to address unsportsmanlike behavior during high school basketball games. The WIAA operates within the spectator sports sector, focusing on youth development through athletics and activities in the state.
