Water New Zealand is a not-for-profit national body that unites water management professionals and organisations across New Zealand. It promotes the sustainable management of the water environment and the three waters—drinking, waste, and stormwater—by encouraging best practices and facilitating knowledge sharing, collaboration, and professional development to uphold the standing of water resources in Aotearoa New Zealand. The organization serves a broad membership drawn from regional councils, Crown Research Institutes, consultants, suppliers, government agencies, scientists, and others involved in water management, positioning itself as the leading industry voice and network for the sector. Based in Wellington, it acts as a platform for information exchange and collective action toward freshwater health and sustainable water infrastructure, with recent collaborations such as a May 2026 partnership with Simpson Grierson to produce a Directors' Handbook for Water Governance.
