Wayne-Westland Community Schools, in cooperation with parents and the community, will educate and prepare all of our students to be knowledgeable, responsible, contributing members of a global society. Wayne-Westland Community Schools promotes high expectations for success and provides students with a safe, caring and nurturing environment. The dynamic environment throughout the school district illustrates that when a school and community work together, extraordinary results occur. Our high schools provide many points of pride, which include: STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT Students in grades K-6 can participate in the Talented and Gifted program. Staff meets students' needs with individualized instruction. High school students can earn free college credit through dual enrollment, direct college and advanced placement classes. The Class of 2017 received over $7 million in academic, athletic and local scholarships. SAT scores continue to validate the improvement the schools are making. WWCS has an award-winning career-technical education facility with 19 programs including Robotics, Alternative Energy, Automotive Technology, EMT/ Firefighting, and Construction Technology. Computer coding classes have been added to the middle and high school curriculum. Modern technology includes interactive smart boards, learn pads, iPads, Chromebooks and virtual field trips. Highly qualified and award-winning staff includes the current Michigan Teacher of the Year for Creative Writing. Our students are award- winning JROTC, DECA and 2017 Ethics Team State Champions. WWCS has free sports programs, state-of-the-art sports complexes, and several district sports titles. Fine arts classes include band, choir, orchestra, drama and visual arts. The district focuses on student leadership and goal setting through programs such as Leader in Me and PBiS programs.
