In 2010 We Lead Ours (WELO) was founded in Oakland California by Dwayne Aikens Jr., Lamont Robinson Jr., and Trestin George. Our mission is to provide children with enrichment programs that use hands-on learning experiences to nurture life skills that focus on; career exploration, civic leadership, college preparation, and health and wellness. The original purpose of WELO was to provide youth from underserved areas with programs that would provide them with an enrichment based summer camp program. Overall our program has evolved from a summer camp enrichment program to working with children ages 4 - 18 year round. Since WELO 2010 Start we have supported the Oakland Unified School District and Alameda County by providing an array of services to support students with social and emotional needs. We offer direct mentoring services, after-school programs, summer camps, and comprehensive sports programs.
