The Welcome Home Initiative (WHI) seeks to introduce combat veterans and Wounded Warriors and their families of all wars to the healing power of Christ. WHI ministers this through a retreat held three times a year. Dates are on the main web site. Combatants arrive for lunch on Day 1 and depart after lunch on Day 3. Staff are all professionally trained and highly experienced in their roles. The retreat is offered free as WHI's way of saying 'thank you' for your service and sacrifice and 'welcome home' to the combatants who come. By Nov 09 six retreats had been held, ministering to more than 70 combatants. Every combatant except for one had expressed their huge appreciation for the retreat and the healing they had experienced. A growing number of combatants have seen their lives significantly changed for the better by coming on a retreat. The retreat is offered to anyone with combat experience regardless of creed, gender, disability, orientation and so on. Combatants are asked to respect the Christian faith stance of WHI whether they agree with it or not.
