William Harris Lee & Company is a Chicago-based firm operating in the musical instrument sector, with a history dating to 1978. It began as a wholesale supplier to violin makers and dealers, supplying high-end accessories and materials, and has expanded into crafting fine string instruments using proprietary methods that reflect a blend of European craft and American ingenuity. The company emphasizes carefully sourced materials and its own distinctive instrument design and sound, positioning itself as a workshop that covers both violin making and restoration as well as musical education, with staff representing a range of countries and U.S. states.

Its customer base includes professional musicians, educators, and institutions seeking quality instruments and related materials. The firm maintains a presence in multiple metropolitan areas, including Chicago and nearby, and operates within the broader violin and string instrument industry, where it claims a leadership role in its traditional workshop approach. A recent development noted in industry coverage involves attention to a case associated with a Gagliano violin, reflecting ongoing activity in the handling and presentation of rare instruments.
