The Winooski Valley Park District is a cooperative partnership among seven member communities in the Winooski River Valley that focuses on protecting natural resources in the region. As a nonprofit organization and Vermont municipality, its mission is to plan, acquire, and manage lands and waters within the boundaries of its member towns to conserve natural areas, establish parks, and support resource-based education and recreation. The district operates within the environmental services field, coordinating conservation and park development across multiple communities. Created in 1972, WVPD manages 18 parks and natural areas and conserves more than 1,750 acres of land within its member municipalities. Its seven member communities are Burlington, Colchester, Essex, Jericho, South Burlington, Williston, and Winooski, and its offices are located at the Ethan Allen Homestead in Burlington, Vermont.
