Words Alive was founded on the belief that if you value reading and understand its fundamental connection to all aspects of your life, then you will be better equipped to thrive as a lifelong learner and productive member of your community. 

We serve more than 5,000 students and families in San Diego every year through our four programs: the Read Aloud Program, Adolescent Book Group, Family Literacy Program, and the Words Alive Westreich Scholarship. We provide high-quality reading programs for our participants in classrooms from the border to Northy County, and help them become lifelong readers and learners.
