World Agroforestry, also known as CIFOR-ICRAF, is a research-focused centre that studies agroforestry and the role of trees in improving farming livelihoods and environmental outcomes. It draws on a large repository of agroforestry science and information to develop knowledge practices that span from farmers' fields to international policy and practice. Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, the organization operates six regional programs across Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and Latin America and conducts research in more than 30 other countries. CIFOR-ICRAF positions itself within the research services industry and aligns its work with CGIAR development challenges and the Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to reduce poverty and improve food security while managing natural resources and climate impacts. Its mission is to harness the benefits of trees for agriculture, livelihoods, resilience, and long-term planetary health, from local fields to continental scales. In 2026 the center expanded collaboration with partners such as Catholic Relief Services and Map of Life, illustrating ongoing external partnerships.
