World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) operates as an international authority on animal health, based in Paris, Île-de-France. Founded in 1924, it has evolved from addressing animal health challenges to activities that include forging partnerships with international actors, disseminating knowledge, monitoring diseases, and developing science-based protocols to prevent outbreaks from threatening public health, livelihoods, and global trade. The organization emphasizes transparency and maintains a global network of member states and authorities committed to upholding animal health and welfare standards. Its primary audiences are governments, veterinary authorities, and related partners who need coordinated surveillance, risk assessment, and response to diseases affecting livestock, aquatic species, and wildlife. Positioned within the international affairs landscape of animal health, WOAH aims to empower its members by providing accessible knowledge resources and a shared information base. A recent development illustrating its ongoing activity is a partnership with the European Space Agency to host the EO4Health User Forum in 2025, underscoring cross-sector collaboration to strengthen health monitoring.
