We foster joy, literacy, and critical thinking in children and teens from all backgrounds through creative writing. Writopia Lab is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization that runs creative writing workshops for writers ages 6 to 18. Founded in New York City in 2007, Writopia Lab has grown into a national community of young writers ages 6 to 18. Though our workshops are all currently online, we have locations throughout the New York City; Washington, DC; Los Angeles; and Chicago regions. For the last several years, more students from Writopia Lab than from any other school have been recognized at both the regional and national levels in the Scholastic Art & Writing awards. Our Worldwide Plays Festival celebrates the work of young playwrights. Each year, our professional theatre company produces over 100 thrilling, hilarious, and poignant plays written by New York City’s and the world’s top playwrights ages 6 to 18!
