Youthline was founded in 1970 as a grassroots response to the lack of youth-specific support services in Aotearoa. What began as a volunteer-run crisis line has grown into one of New Zealand’s most trusted mental health and youth development organisations for young people.

With branches in 12 locations nationwide, we support rangatahi through a range of free services, including counselling, mentoring, and youth development programmes. At the heart of our work is our free 24/7 Helpline, providing immediate support via text, phone, webchat, email, WhatsApp, and Instagram.

As we continue our work, our focus remains the same, to empower young people in their communities, ensuring they have the tools, support, and information they need, and further ensuring we can be there for them, now and into the future.
