Zaro's Family Bakery is a fourth-generation bakery with origins dating to 1927, when Joseph Zaro opened a shop in the Bronx after carrying Jewish baking traditions from Lublin, Poland. Based in Elmsford, New York, the bakery bakes from scratch a selection of New York classics, including handmade bagels, challah, and cakes, and holds OK Kosher certification. The operation emphasizes traditional methods and recognizable, nostalgic flavors for customers seeking a specific bread and pastry experience. Family involvement is evident in daily operations, with great-grandsons working behind the counter.

Serving customers in the New York metropolitan area, the business targets shoppers who value heritage baked goods and gift-worthy treats, framed by a steady, local presence rather than mass-market promotion. Recent developments reflect a broadened retail approach: in 2023 it launched a line of challah items for retailers, and in 2026 it announced a relaunch that combines bakery products, pantry staples, and curated gifting under a single retail format.
