The business is based in the United Arab Emirates and was founded in 2002 by Rainer Becker and Arjun Waney. The first Zuma restaurant opened in London’s Knightsbridge and remains its flagship, with management and chefs training in London before working at Zuma locations worldwide. Dubai was the fourth site in Zuma's expansion, followed by openings in Miami in 2010 and Bangkok in 2011.
