A Community of Friends (ACOF) is a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, founded in 1988 to develop housing for individuals and families with special needs. Its core mission is to end homelessness by providing permanent supportive housing for people with mental illness, combining affordable housing with on-site supportive services delivered through partnerships with community-based service agencies. ACOF has completed more than 2,600 housing units across about 50 properties in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego Counties, with 43 buildings currently in its portfolio serving communities such as Santa Monica, Pico-Union, Hollywood, Koreatown, North Hills, South Los Angeles, Boyle Heights, and Fullerton. Partnerships with other organizations support its project work, including collaborations with Piece by Piece on projects like the Villas at Gower in Hollywood and the Silver Star in South Los Angeles. With a mid-sized footprint, ACOF operates within the Southern California housing landscape to provide permanent, affordable housing and stability for residents.
