Abacus Research AG is a privately owned Swiss software company with more than three decades of operation. It develops Abacus Business Software, an ERP platform tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises that integrates core processes such as invoicing, order processing, production planning and control, cost and project accounting, service and contract management, CRM, and the primary financial functions. The system also includes features for archiving, electronic banking, information management, and e-commerce, providing an end-to-end solution for SME operations. The company is positioned as the largest independent Swiss provider of business software for SMEs, serving a broad base of customers across the country. 

Headquartered in Wittenbach in the St. Gallen region, Abacus maintains additional offices in St. Gallen, Winterthur, Biel, Lugano, and Geneva. It counts a substantial number of customers, with more than 65,000 client organizations relying on its software, reflecting its long-standing market presence. The firm was founded in 1985 by three University of St. Gallen graduates who remain with the company. In 2023, Abacus formed a partnership with Swiss21.org to promote its software for small companies.
