Abingdon Theatre Company is a United States-based performing arts organization that develops and produces new plays by both emerging and established playwrights. Over its history, the company has collaborated with more than 200 playwrights to cultivate original works in New York City, providing a space where writers, directors, designers, producers, and staff work together to refine their material and receive audience feedback. Under the leadership of artistic director Tony Speciale since 2015, Abingdon emphasizes a supportive environment and a schedule that includes onstage and backstage collaboration across its two intimate venues, the 98-seat June Havoc Theatre and the 56-seat Dorothy Strelsin Theatre. The organization has outlined plans to broaden its programming and support structures, including education initiatives, mentor relationships, reading series, master classes, writers groups, residencies, and a shift toward contracts that align with Off-Broadway standards. 

Recent developments show the company expanding its activities beyond live theatre, with the launch of Abingdon Virtual in 2020 to support film production and virtual programming, followed by the introduction of new Artists-in-Residence programs and expanded partnerships, all within its mission to foster new work and nurture talent in the New York theatre ecosystem.
