AFR-IX telecom operates as a global telecommunications infrastructure group with licensed operations across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas, focusing on developing, operating and commercializing robust digital infrastructure. Its core activities include carrier-grade connectivity services such as data, MPLS and SDN, and the design, deployment and ongoing operation of critical telecom infrastructure. Its asset base comprises more than 150 points of presence worldwide, rights of use on submarine systems, the Medusa submarine cable system, cable landing stations and related marine services. Headquartered in Sant Adrià de Besòs, Catalonia, the company serves carriers and network operators seeking reliable, high-capacity connectivity across multiple regions. A notable recent development is the November 2025 integration with Salam Integrated Telecom Company, which merges Salam's terrestrial network and data-centre assets with AFR-IX's subsea cable capabilities to enhance connectivity in Saudi Arabia and the wider Mediterranean region. Earlier, the company launched the Barcelona Cable Landing Station in 2020 as part of its infrastructure expansion.
