The American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is a nonprofit professional association representing more than 12,000 otolaryngology-head and neck surgeons who diagnose and treat disorders of the ear, nose, throat, and related head and neck structures. It is based in Alexandria, Virginia, and operates within the nonprofit sector. The organization supports the field through the AAO-HNS Foundation, which pursues education, research, and lifelong learning to advance otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, addressing common conditions such as hearing loss, chronic ear infections, sinusitis, sleep apnea, allergies, swallowing disorders, nosebleeds, hoarseness, dizziness, and head and neck cancers.
