Founded by musicians and teachers Irene Hulbert and Dr. Jarl Hulbert, ARTI-ST Music opened its Perry Hall facility in 2002 after conducting business out of Oren Music (Formerly Baltimore's Yamaha piano dealer) since 1998. As a husband and wife team, Jarl and Irene compliment each other's strengths in their mission to bring musical instruction of the highest quality to the local community. “ARTI-ST,” is an acronym for our motto: “Artistic Rewards Through In-Spired Teaching.”  ARTI-ST's main focus is private music instruction and contracts with around 40 teachers.  With the opening of its Reisterstown facility in 2010, ARTI-ST became a Hailun piano dealer and general music store, although the company focus continues to be on education.
