The Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) is a not-for-profit organisation with the mission to unite, promote and support the Summer Olympic International Federations (IFs). Founded in 1983 and based in Lausanne, Switzerland, ASOIF strives to promote the autonomy of its members, while coordinating their common interests and goals – especially in regard to the Summer Olympic Games, the Summer Youth Olympic Games and the Olympic and Sports Movement, but also on any other matter deemed necessary by the IFs. ASOIF has created eight consultative and advisory groups to leverage the expertise of its member IFs in important areas: Medical and Science Group (AMSCG), Legal Group (ALCG), Sports Development and Education Group (ASDEG), Olympic and Multi-Sports Games Group (AOMSG), Commercial Group (CAG), Technology and Innovation Group (TICG), Parasport Group (APCG), and Diversity and Gender Equality Group (ADGEG). Mandated by the ASOIF General Assembly, ASOIF also established the Governance Task Force (GTF) in 2015 to assist the IFs to promote and ensure a culture of good governance within their structures. The GTF has conducted three governance review for its membership using its independent assessment methodology, which has been widely recognised by the Olympic and Sports Movement, media and public authorities. The GTF also set up the Governance Support and Monitoring Unit (GSMU) to help IFs evolve from the adoption of principles and rules to tangible performances in good governance.
