Blaby District Council provides a range of essential services to support local people. We recognise the need to respond and adapt effectively to meet the demands of a dynamic and changing District. Our statutory services include, planning, benefits, waste and recycling, and licensing. However, we believe that we have a responsibility to deliver much more than this in improving the quality of life for people in the District; therefore we also work with partners to provide services such as community safety projects, cultural and leisure services. We have a role in influencing others whether it be local partners or at county, regional or national level around such issues as education, health and climate change. We also help communities to work together and to improve the local area through their own actions such as Community Forums or voluntary work. The District Council of Blaby is split into 18 election wards with a total of 39 elected Council Members covering these areas. Blaby District, which has a population of just over 95,000 and covers an area of approximately 129 square kilometres, is situated within the County of Leicestershire to the south-west of the City of Leicester.
