Blaby District Council provides a range of essential services to support local people. We recognise the need to respond and adapt effectively to meet the demands of a dynamic and changing District. Our statutory services include, planning, benefits, waste and recycling, and licensing. However, we believe that we have a responsibility to deliver much more than this in improving the quality of life for people in the District; therefore we also work with partners to provide services such as community safety projects, cultural and leisure services. We have a role in influencing others whether it be local partners or at county, regional or national level around such issues as education, health and climate change. We also help communities to work together and to improve the local area through their own actions such as Community Forums or voluntary work. The District Council of Blaby is split into 17 election wards with a total of 36 elected Council Members covering these areas. We're a Leicestershire district, found to the south of Leicester with a population of around 103,000 and covers an area of approximately 129 square kilometres. We welcome respectful and lawful engagement on our social media platforms. Interactions should be fair, non-discriminatory and free from false or misleading information. Comments that display abusive or disrespectful conduct towards community members or representatives of Blaby District Council may be hidden, removed, or result in the user being blocked, banned or reported. Our social media pages are intended for community interaction, not for self-promotion, marketing, political and cultural commentary or propaganda. Posts that do not align with these guidelines will be removed. Repeated misuse may result in account blocking. See our Social Media Policy www.blaby.gov.uk/social-media-policy/
